Groups

Groups

The Student Counseling Center offers a variety of groups for different student populations, presenting concerns, and personal development opportunities. Groups can be a great way to improve and/or maintain mental health while connecting with others who have similar experiences. Groups are typically formed organically based on identified common experiences and student requests that arise throughout the year. If you are interested in a particular group topic, reach out to the SCC at scc@ju.edu. See below for current group offerings.

Stress Less

Gain an understanding of stress – where it comes from, its purpose, what it looks like – and what you can do to respond to stress healthily and effectively. You’ll learn how to restructure your thoughts, practice mindfulness, and engage in calming and relaxation techniques to help you stress less and thrive in your life as a college student and beyond.

Using Your Strengths

Use the VIA Character Strengths Survey to do a deep dive into harnessing the power of personal strengths in your life as a college student. You’ll identify your own top strengths, explore how they impact all the different areas of your life, and create a goal for growing and maximizing your strengths in your everyday life.

authentic Self-Care

Not just spa days, shopping sprees, and weekend trips - we're talking about real, authentic self-care: The things that feed into who you are as an individual, representing respect, self-compassion, connection, rest, and so much more. Take a deep dive into the nine dimensions of wellness, and explore practical ways to invest in yourself in your everyday life.

BASIC Counseling Skills 101

Intended for student leaders, this interactive workshop introduces the very basics of counseling skills to effectively engage in conversations about struggle, needs, and support. Participants will practice skills with each other, process their experiences, and brainstorm strategies for navigating potentially challenging situations.

CUSTOM

We can create a custom workshop to fit your group's needs. Please provide us with as much information as possible regarding your ideas, needs, and goals for the workshop.
