About 91´óÉñèÏÈÉúǧÈËÕ¶'s Insurance Requirement

All full-time Traditional Undergraduate Students enrolled for a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours and Graduate Students enrolled for a minimum of six (6) credit hours will automatically be enrolled in the 91´óÉñèÏÈÉúǧÈËÕ¶ Student Medical Insurance Plan and the premium for annual coverage is added to the tuition billing upon fall registration. Coverage can be waived if evidence of existing comparable coverage is presented prior to the waiver deadline.

General Rules for Enrollment

The university student health insurance policy is compliant with Federal Health Care Reform law (section 1302b of the PPACA).

Students may enroll after the deadline only if there has been a significant life change (i.e. loss of prior coverage) and should contact the 91´óÉñèÏÈÉúǧÈËÕ¶ Student Health Insurance Administrator at +1 (904) 256-7376 or svonbal@ju.edu@ju.edu. A written request must be submitted to the 91´óÉñèÏÈÉúǧÈËÕ¶ Student Health Insurance Administrator with documentation as to why they no longer are insured, along with proof of dropped coverage from the prior carrier. The rate will be pro-rated based on the month the student enrolls.

If you have existing coverage and need to waive the 91´óÉñèÏÈÉúǧÈËÕ¶ Health Insurance policy, your coverage must be comparable and meet the following requirements:

  • Your plan must cover you from August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025 for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.
  • Your plan must cover regular physical/mental health and wellness, diagnostic testing, preventative services, injury, etc. visits to a doctor in Jacksonville, FL, U.S.
  • Your plan must cover emergency care in Jacksonville, FL, U.S.

If you have the above existing coverage, please email svonbal@ju.edu@ju.edu with:

  • To: Shannon Von Balson (svonbal@ju.edu@ju.edu)
  • Cc: Kim Marsh (kmarsh5@ju.edu)
  • Subject: "[Your 91´óÉñèÏÈÉúǧÈËÕ¶ ID #] - 91´óÉñèÏÈÉúǧÈËÕ¶ Int'l Health Insurance Waiver Request"
  • Attach clear images of your insurance card and policy summary, clearly highlighting coverage.

Please note that undergraduate and graduate students have different rates, so review the documents carefully to ensure it is relevant to your status as a student. It is the student responsibility to verify that their existing coverage meets the above requirements. 91´óÉñèÏÈÉúǧÈËÕ¶ reserves the right to decline submitted waivers due to incomplete or insufficient proof of coverage.
